As our growth continues, the need to center our work in an environment most conducive to our vision for the tribe has become increasingly apparent. To that end, we at the Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake are happy to announce we’ve opened our newly renovated offices on Main Street in Upper Lake. These modernized facilities symbolize our commitment to taking the tribe forward, and our doors will remain open, as always, to those who need our assistance and support.
A grand opening ceremony took place on the 23rd of September at 1 PM, welcoming all members of the public. Tribal elders were on hand to bless the space, and led the assembled group in traditional prayer to consecrate this new headquarters. By connecting our new space to hallowed tribal traditions, we draw upon that unique character that has given our people so much strength over the centuries. This new office represents the latest iteration of that undying fortitude.
We were happy to receive neighbors and honored guests from the community. Lake County Board Supervisor Jim Steele joined us and shared his hopes for the county, which relate closely to the goals of the Upper Lake Pomo. The assembled group also heard warm remarks from Wanda Quitquit, who took the occasion to present the Tribe with a ceremonial gourd as a gift for the new office.
Now that we’re open for business, feel free to come visit us anytime at 9470 Main St., Upper Lake, CA 95485.
